Finding everything I needed for my wedding ceremony and reception was a lot of work, but went I went to pick out a gift for I bridesmaids, I realized that the other things had only been half of the battle. So now, with the albums we have and the ones we will probably have in the future and all the videos I plan to record, I’m probably going to need a lot more room than originally planned. Well, a person needs to be able to go back in time every now and then, that’s just a part of who I am. The years ahead with our children are memories I want to hang on to for the rest of my life, and I definitely intend to.

Finally we were down to the cake topper, place card holders and wedding favors. All of the rest of it had been dealt with. A couple of doves formed out of glazed porcelain were what my daughter selected to put at the top of her wedding cake. The pair of doves will make an exquisite figurine that will help her memories of the wedding day last a lifetime. My girl picked out small, shiny silver picture frames to use as place card holders at the reception dinner. She thought it was neat to give the guests something they could actually use after the dinner. After looking at all of the items she selected for her ceremony and reception, I’d say she did a pretty good job of it. It was a beautiful wedding, and the reception looked fantastic. My daughter and her new husband looked so wonderful as they danced their first dance as man and wife. We all did a lot of dancing that night, and I swear my feet still hurt, but it was all worth it, it was a wonderful event that I will remember forever. We have no use for 200 champagne glasses, so why not let our friends and family have them as keepsakes? One of the items in our five piece wedding set was the claret colored wedding guestbook with guest sign in pages, a place to list the gifts we received and a special spot for those little momentos. There was also a cute idea for a place card holder that I really liked. Pink lilies adorned the place cards I picked out, and each guest received brightly-wrapped candies in a small plastic purse. Next to the other decorations and presents, they were a real eye-catcher. You should see all the cute litte favor boxes you can get for just about any ocassion you are planning on celebrating. I chose little floral patterned boxes which I stacked on a cake plate in layers and sat on the gift table. It looked very decorative like that and each lady just took a gift from the plate. I picked out a few kinckknacks as awards for winning the bridal shower activities we were going to play, and the thank you presents were sets that had everything you’d need to give a manicure. I found some random things to hand out as awards, such as unique key rings, little vanity mirrors, and special soaps.
I went online and got some great game ideas for the party too. If you want to see something humorous, try playing ‘Take It Off,” a game where you have to but a bag on your head and then, when the person running the game tells you to take off one piece of clothing, you have to take one off – and it’s astonishing how many women don’t have it come to mind that they ought to take off the bag. That is a funny experience you’ll never forget. We also played bridal bingo and a couple other funny games. Looking online saved me a ton of money and exposed me to a lot of options I, otherwise, wouldn’t have known anything about. The favors and invitations I bought were a bargain. I paid a fraction of what I had expected, I had lots of accessories to choose from and I didn’t have to go with inferior products. Since the website also sold wedding invitations and favors, I let my friend who was about to get married know about it, since I was sure she could use a wide selection to pick from. So, maybe ordering her accessories and reception supplies from here will help her out in the planning and the finances. I know it helped to make this bridal shower a success. The attendees all adored their presents and had a wonderful time. The people who took the time to go to the shower will all get thank you cards, which I’m working on now. The wedding I went to last week was all set up with gorgeous mikasa crystal accessories for all the reception tables. They had mikasa favors and mikasa crystal glassware on every reception table. What excellent taste the bride has in decorating a wedding and reception tables. The tables just shined with lustre and elegance with all the different mikasa accessories.
They had little silver doves as the place card holders, and on the end of their tails were little place cards with a bride and groom printed on them. The centerpieces she chose really helped to bring out the beauty of her reception tables. A beautiful floral arrangement was placed around pillar candles as the centerpieces. Their wedding cake was another spectacular sight to behold with five layers of luscious chocolate with chocolate cream cheese in between each layer. As the cake topper she had a really unique idea. She found a place online where she got most of her accessories and supplies that make customized cake toppers. They make figurines that look just like the bride and groom for the topper and all it takes is sending them a couple head shots of the happy couple. It looked just like them. My mom and dad are having a renewal ceremony for their anniversary, and I’d like to find out where she ordered that cake topper from so I could get one made for their reception party.
I think one of the funniest part of this whole thing was when it was time for the garter toss. All those single men gathered together with a growing excitement while they watched the groom remove the leg garter from his bride. As the garter flew through the air, they were all falling into each other as they tried desperately to grab it up. The funniest part though, is that the winner of the garter toss was a widower in his 70’s that didn’t even want to participate in the toss. The old guy walked away with a big smile on his face.
To toast the bride and groom we were given champagne flutes that had the bride and grooms name printed on them with the date of the wedding ceremony, and we got to take these home as keepsakes of the celebration. As soon as the toast was finished, the happy couple took to the dance floor for the traditional bride and grooms first dance. They made such an elegant couple as they danced across the dance floor. After their first dance was over, the dance floor was over run with couples. I think I over extended myself on the dance floor, my feet ached so badly.
Finally it was time for the bride and groom to depart for their honeymoon, and we all said our good byes. I found out from one of the other guests that they were going to Hawaii for their honeymoon. They’ll have a honeymoon to equal this fabulous wedding and reception. The rest of us partied until we couldn’t party no more.
It was only a couple of weeks later that I got my thank you card from the happy couple thanking me for sharing their wedding day with them and for the wedding gift I bought for them. She really got to these thank you’s quickly. By the way, I did find out how she could afford a mikasa wedding favor and that fantastic cake topper. So today, I’m placing my order for the special cake topper and other accessories for my parents special renewal ceremony and reception.

The boxes can be designed in a wide variety of ways. For her wedding day, my daughter got her bridesmaids jewelry boxes, and one for herself as well. My daughter and son in law chose to have a fairy tale themed wedding, with all the trimmings. She really did look like Cinderella at the ball in her lovely wedding gown and long veil, and I must admit my son in law looked just as good as Prince Charming in his stunning tux. It was a picturesque wedding. They left the wedding chapel in style, with a man in a tall white hat and long tails on his coat driving them away in a horse drawn carriage.
The reception had small white lights to add with the tulle that was draped above and tall flower vases scattered all about the room. The tables at the reception had silvery sparkles and wonderful flower arrangements, and the bride and groom table sat in front of an arrangement of red and white roses with ivy strung along an arch. She picked out tea light place card holders in the shape of silver doves that made the tables shine even more. Flower and crystals adorned the small jewelry boxes that each lady at the wedding got as a gift. For the men in attendance, a key chain with a frog prince on it was given to them as a wedding favor. The cheap jewelry boxes for the bridesmaids had black velvet-lined interiors and were made of wood and sliver-plated. The date of the wedding and name of the happy couple were inscribed in the boxes. The bridesmaids were very appreciative of what my daughter gave them as a thank you gift. It was a box like I used to have, I had no idea it was a discount jewelry box, it was so expensive looking. The men each got a commemorative inscription in a small plaque and a set of wine related gifts. I thought that was pretty unique for a thank you gift.
A tiny castle sitting at the top of the three-tiered wedding cake lent the cake a mystical appearance. The cake knife set and champagne glasses meshed perfectly together with the cake. I couldn’t believe all the super accessories she got and it didn’t cost her anywhere near what I thought it would cost. As mother and father of the bride, we felt obligated to cover the cost of the wedding, but they were adamant about not accepting our assistance.
The first dance for the bride and groom was like something in a movie, and it was very emotional for me. It truly looked like something out of a fairytale, just like the ball in the Cinderella story. The guys got so rowdy trying to catch the garter, during the garter toss, that they had me laughing to no end. My daughter’s wedding day was as magical as she imagined it would be, and the whole thing was so special. Now they are on a honeymoon she’s always dreamed of. She promised to tell me all about the great places they went to while on their honeymoon, as soon as she gets home.
